Myth: Guns are not effective in preventing crime against women

Fact: Of the 2,500,000 annual self-defense cases using guns, more than 7.7% (192,500) are by women defending themselves against sexual abuse.

Fact: When a woman was armed with a gun or knife, only 3% of rape attacks are completed, compared to 32% when unarmed.120

Fact: The probability of serious injury from an attack is 2.5 times greater for women offering no resistance than for women resisting with a gun. Men also benefit from using a gun, but the benefits are smaller at 1.4 times more likely to receive a serious injury.121

Fact: 28.5% of women have a gun in the house.122

Fact: 41.7% of women either own or have rapid access to guns.123

Fact: In 1966, the city of Orlando responded to a wave of sexual assaults by offering firearms training classes to women. Rapes dropped by nearly 90% the following year.

I visited a lot of forums before I came across this one but The American Sheep Dog Forum Is the only forum I have ever joined. When I first came across the ASD forum I just looked around and read some of the threads.
I noticed there was something special about this forum that separated it from the other forums I had read. I noticed that there was no judgment being passed. I read a post where someone said they carried a 380 caliber pistol.
I looked for the explosion of harassment and criticism from the cannon carriers and was surprised not to see it. Every other forum I came across seemed to have those hard headed people, who believe their way is the only way, prowling the forum, waiting for someone to make a statement they don't agree with so they can ridicule them and shout them down.

The American Sheep Dog forum is different. We all have our own opinions (I wouldn't carry a 380 for instance) but we respect others opinions. I have never read a post on this forum where someone was harassed for their opinion. This creates an environment where we can learn from each other and express our thoughts and opinions without fear of someone calling you out because you don't think the way they do.

I really enjoy this forum. I have learned a lot and I like the people here. I would highly recommend it!
